Introduction
Welcome to Kaiser Permanente Washington Family Medicine Residency at Seattle
We are one of the original 11 family medicine residency programs and have been training family physicians since 1969. Leading the innovation in family medicine residency training, we have transformed the traditional learning model by implementing a longitudinal curriculum. We provide training within one of the most advanced and high-functioning health care systems in our nation, preparing our residents with the skills to meet the challenges and needs of tomorrow’s primary care.
What makes us stand out?
Advanced primary care
Kaiser Permanente Washington has created an unrivaled primary care system. This setting offers the opportunity to practice full-spectrum family medicine, integrated specialty, care robust support staff, incorporation of virtual medicine, and access to the most up-to-date medical resources.

Longitudinal training
We have led the transformation in residency training by creating a longitudinal curriculum that differs from the traditional “block” model. We have departed from spending one month on a particular specialty or inpatient service at a time. Instead, we integrate the various aspects of training throughout each of the three years, providing consistent exposure and learning of different topics. Residents care for a panel of 400 patients while transitioning between OB, internal medicine, pediatrics, urgent care, geriatrics, and other specialty settings.

Antiracism
Racism is at the core of inequities within the social structures and health systems in this country. These inequities are destructive to the health of patients and the well-being of healthcare providers. We are committed to training leaders in primary care and improving the health of our community through our commitment to undoing racism.
